Q.
Are the Magellan maps copy protected?

A.
To insure that you have the best possible experience with StoneMaps resort maps on your Magellan GPS unit, our maps are "Magellan Certified". Part of the certification process requires that each copy of our Magellan maps are associated with either a single SD Card or a singe physical GPS unit. If you attempt to copy a map from either the original SD Card or the GPS Unit specified when ordering an Immediate Download, the map will not function.

Q.
Should I purchase a map on a SD Card or via Immediate Download?

A.

Magellan versions of StoneMaps GPS maps are available in two formats: pre-installed on a Secure Digital card (SD Card), or via Immediate Download. There are advantages to either option.

SD Cards (easier, more flexible):
SD Cards are physical cards that are shipped to you. By purchasing the map preloaded on a SD Card, you are getting the SD Card for less than you could probably purchase on your own (typically $5.00). Maps on SD Cards are very easy to install by simply inserting the card into your GPS unit. Also, the map can easily be transferred between GPS units by simply swapping the card.

Immediate Download (faster, less expensive):
Immediate Download maps are software that you download via your web browser and then install on a SD Card that you purchase separately. The download procedure is done on the StoneMaps Amusement Park GPS maps for Magellan section of Magellan's official web site and is available anytime of the day or night. You obtain your maps within minutes via Immediate Download since you don't have to wait for a physical card to be shipped to you. They are also less expensive since you don't have to pay for shipping. Immediate Download maps are installed by you either directly on your SD Card or via Magellan's free VantagePoint software. Immediate Download maps can only be used on a single GPS unit that you specify at the time of order, and cannot be transferred between other GPS units.

Q.
How often are the maps updated?

A.
StoneMaps are updated as resort information changes. Most maps are updated at least once per year, so you can feel confident that you will purchase the most up-to-date map available.

Q.
How much do upgrades cost?

A.

At this time there is not a discount for purchasing newer versions of our Magellan compatible maps.

Q.
Are StoneMaps compatible with the Magellan VantagePoint software?

A.
StoneMaps are fully compatible with VantagePoint. Any waypoints, routes, or tracks made while using StoneMaps can be transferred to VantagePoint. Likewise, you can transfer waypoints, routes, or tracks to your GPS unit from VantagePoint while you have StoneMaps installed on your GPS unit. You can see your map in VantagePoint and transfer it to your GPS.

Q.
How can I get further help?

A.
StoneMaps have been designed to be easy to install and easy to use. However, if you are unable to find an answer to your question, you can contact us via email. We do not currently provide customer support via the telephone.

Magellan installation instructions

Installing StoneMaps products on your Magellan GPS is simple. If you choose to purchase your map pre-installed on a SD Card, you simply insert the card into your GPS Unit. If you choose to purchase your map via Immediate Download, you have the option of either transferring the map to your GPS Unit using Magellan's free VantagePoint software, or copying the map to your own SD Card using a SD Card reader (sold separately). Different GPS Units have slightly different requirements for transferring the map.
