Q. |
How much do upgrades cost? |
| |
A. |
Upgrades to the Garmin maps that you have purchased are free for up to one year from your original purchase date. This allows customers to purchase maps months in advance in order to prepare for their trips, and still have the most up-to-date information when they travel. To request a free upgrade, simply contact us. Be sure to include your full name, order number, and the date of your purchase. If you wish to update your map after one year has passed, we ask that you simply purchase a new copy at our everyday low prices. |

Q. |
Can StoneMaps be transferred to my GPS unit using a USB port? |
| |
A. |
StoneMaps are compatible with most handheld GPS units. Maps can be transferred to GPS units over a Serial port or a USB port provided such transfer is supported by the GPS unit. See the compatibility section for more information. Be sure to install the Garmin USB drivers before connecting your GPS unit to your computer for the first time. The Garmin USB drivers can be found on the Garmin web site. |

Q. |
Are StoneMaps compatible with the Garmin MapSource software? |
| |
A. |
StoneMaps are fully compatible with MapSource. Any waypoints, routes, or tracks made while using StoneMaps can be transferred to MapSource. Likewise, you can transfer waypoints, routes, or tracks to your GPS unit from MapSource while you have StoneMaps installed on your GPS unit. You can see your map in Mapsource and transfer it to your GPS in a mapset either by itself or with other maps. |

Q. |
There are funny symbols next to the names of ski resort map features. What do they mean? |
| |
A. |
StoneMaps use a text code to provide you extra information about map features such as the capacity of a lift or the difficulty of a ski run. In fact, the codes are so good, they are copyrighted! The codes are as follows:

Q. |
Do your ski maps have topographic contours? |
| |
A. |
Many years ago, StoneMaps ski maps contained topographic contours. However, our customers told us that displaying contour lines on the screen is not helpful at the zoomed in resolutions that are most used while skiing. More often the contour lines get confused with paths or ski runs.
StoneMaps spends considerable time testing our products with customers like yourself and our current maps benefit from this research. Our screen display is the most easy to use on the market. You will see the information that is most important to you with the least amount of clutter. Since our customer research shows that contour lines are not very helpful and are more confusing, they are not included in our latest generation of maps.

you can contact us via email. We do not currently provide customer
support via the telephone. |
